Assistant Director for Grants & Fiscal Operations Boston Main Campus
The Center for Cognitive Brain Health (CBH) and the NU Biomedical Imaging Core (NUBIC) at Northeastern University is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Assistant Director for Grant & Fiscal Operations. This individual must have a strong interest in the sciences and research. The Assistant Director will be responsible for overseeing all CBH/NUBIC operational activities, including fiscal and logistical tasks related to grant submissions; fiscal, personnel and IRB application tasks related to post-award grant and contract management, billing and financial management/reconciliation for the NUBIC Core, specifically, management of the MRI scanner; coordination of NUBIC Core communications within and outside NU. The Assistant Director manages all budgets including federal, state, foundation, and internal funds for both CBH and NUBIC. In addition, the Assistant Director will assist in the preparation of all state, federal and industrial grant applications, including budget development for submission through the College of Science Dean’s Office. This role serves as the liaison with the Psychology Department and the College of Science Dean’s Office.
Senior Pre-Award Administrator Boston Main Campus
Reporting to the Associate Director for Pre-Award Administration at the College of Science, the Senior Pre-Award Grants Administrator provides Pre-Award support to a designated portfolio of faculty with a complex and diversified portfolio of research activities. Working closely with faculty, the Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator ensures research proposals submission in a timely manner and in compliance with announcement, agency, federal government, and Northeastern University policies and regulations. The Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator shall be an expert partner for faculty researchers, ensuring the timely internal routing and approval of proposal packages. The Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator works closely with the post-award team, faculty, and the Northeastern Research Enterprise to ensure a seamless, timely and successful lifecycle of the research administration process. Acting with minimum supervision, the Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator is an independent problem solver, who takes initiative to resolve questions and move processes forward. The Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator will support College efforts to create an environment of research excellence by contributing to PI training sessions and materials on successful proposal creation, executing grant prospect research, and maintaining clear tracking of all proposals from portfolio PIs. The Sr. Pre-Award Grants Administrator participates in outreach activities to educate faculty and administrators to improve the success rate of COS proposals. This position will establish and implement submission procedures relating to grant and proposal development. Participate in development and implementation of training and education programs that promote a clearer understanding of the grants management process.
Business & Operations Manager Boston Main Campus
Operating under the direction of the Chair and Director, the Business and Operations Manager is the lead administrator for the Department of Marine & Environmental Sciences (MES) and the Marine Science Center (MSC). The individual has primary responsibility for all fiscal matters, including management of operating budgets for MES, MSC, the Three Seas Program, and the Bioinformatics Program. Sets and enforces departmental fiscal policies and maintains good internal controls. Provides analytical reports, budget projections, and guidance on the resources available to accomplish departmental objectives. Serves as the department's HR administrator, providing guidance to faculty on HRM policies, hiring mechanisms, and visa requirements. Processes all hires, oversees the annual merit review process, and stays on top of employee end dates to process extensions and terminations. Serves as the I-9 administrator for the Nahant campus. As lead administrator, supervises the activities of the entire MSC/MES administrative staff team, including 7 direct reports. Builds a close-knit team environment among staff of widely varying abilities and responsibilities. Distributes workloads, provides recommendations for role and responsibility changes, as well as possible changes to the administrative org chart. The individual stays apprised of all matters and activities happening at the MSC with constant vigilance for risk management and matters requiring legal guidance. Develops and enforces policies that minimize risk without impeding the flow of operations.

The Division of Information Technology Services is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Business Intelligence (BI) Database Developer. The BI Database Developer will be a dedicated member of the Business Intelligence and Analytics Team within the larger ITS organization. The role has two primary responsibilities. First is the continued expansion and administration of the university’s Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). In this role, the BI Database Developer will work closely with members of the BI & Analytics team to define and implement new data marts and analytic structures to support reporting and analytic needs across the university. This includes the design of dimensionally modeled data marts, database views, and development of complex ETL/data integration software using technologies such as SSIS and stored procedures. Secondarily, the BI Database Developer will serve as the primary resource for ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the EDW. This includes administrative activities such as database object and SSIS migrations, performance tuning, incident resolution, and user management. The ideal candidate has some experience working in hybrid-cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure. While we currently have deployed on on-premises EDW and analytics environment, it is the objective of the Business Intelligence and Analytics team to develop and implement a cloud strategy that enables scale across data platforms and BI/AI/ML applications. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee may be required to work outside his/her regular working hours and on some university holidays.
