About the Opportunity:

The Associate Dean of Administration and Finance (ADAF) serves as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer for Khoury College of Computer Sciences and is the principal administrative and budget officer, and strategist for the College. Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean leads a team of professionals with responsibility for all financial and budget operations, business modeling and planning, graduate program administration, space management, HR, grants and contracts administration (pre- and post-award) originating in the College, and faculty affairs support related to offer packages, space needs and merit review processes. The College has multiple funding sources including an operating budget of approximately $59M (direct and indirect), $60+ million in active research grants, $10.3M in designated/restricted funds, and $7.5M in gifts. He/she will be a dedicated partner to the Dean and an integral part of the college's senior leadership team. The ADAF will work closely with the Dean to support strategic planning by developing and providing analytical reports (detailing enrollment, staffing, financial and space trends/requirements) needed for decisions regarding resource allocation. The ADAF is also responsible for leading growth at the graduate campuses, which includes Seattle, Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto, Portland (ME) and London. This position works closely with the Office of the Provost, Financial Planning, Strategy, and Analytics, Research Enterprise Services, and other central administration offices, college deans, and program directors and provides leadership, expertise, and recommendations in the areas of hybrid budget management and research administration. The ADAF will also be responsible for leading the automation of all manual processes in the college and ensuring data across the college is reported accurately and consistently. The ADAF serves as a key representative of the College regarding relevant administration and finance matters, and as such, serves on various College and University committees and working groups related to business processes, University reporting and data analysis, and faculty.



  • Oversee the Director of Administration and Finance in preparing multi-year financial models for the hybrid budget model and the College’s annual budget for all funds. Report budget-to-actual quarterly performance results to the Provost’s Office and College Dean.
  • Work closely with the Deans regarding all budget issues and needs of the College to ensure that the fiscal goals of the College are attained. Meet with the Dean’s as necessary and provide recommendations to upper management regarding staff, faculty and program decisions for Boston, Seattle, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Toronto, Vancouver, London and Portland campuses.
  • Present financial analyses and trends to upper management in the areas of enrollment, finance and research data. Represent the College on selected standing and ad hoc committees in regards to budget, procurement and workflow processes. Attend University Budget, AAG, IBM Cognos, Regional Campus Planning and other trainings as appropriate. Liaison with staff in the Provost’s Office, in the Chancellor’s Office, Central Finance & Treasury, the Office of General Counsel, Associate Deans of Administration and Finance in the Colleges, Budget, Payroll, Procurement, RAF and Institutional Research.



  • Serve as the Key HR representative for the college and liaison with central HR on all performance issues. Oversee the Director of Administration and Planning with the hiring of all positions including full and part-time faculty, staff, visitors, and students and approve all HR transactions.
  • Oversight includes position management, payroll, and visa documentation. Work with the college Dean on faculty startup packages to ensure appropriate funding and Provost approval. Work with the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty on faculty affairs and liaison with HR, Provost Office, Legal, and Risk Services as appropriate.
  • Administrative:
  • Oversee the Assistant Dean of Graduate Administration who will be responsible for strategic planning to guide the initiation and the implementation of graduate programs, all of which are currently at various levels of implementation, with the goal of expanding the program offerings of Khoury College.
  • Oversee all aspects of new program launches, program deployment across the global network, non-degree/workshops, online offerings, unique credit bearing offerings, and establishing new external partnerships.
  • Provide the College Dean with detailed information regarding enrollments, retention and projections for forecasting of budget and assist the Dean in the assessment of the effectiveness of all existing programs and initiatives.


Space Management, Operations, and IT:

  • Oversee the Director of Operations to ensure IT and space needs of the college are being met and projects are delivered on-time. Work with the Office of the Provost and Central space planning on space needs and rennovations. Ensure that the operations of the college, the front office, and faculty needs are being met.
  • Work to automate all manual processes in the college and ensure data is provided timely and accurately. Work on special projects as needed such as the Network campus management, faculty policies, merit, and Taulbee Survey.


Award Management:

  • Oversee the grants administration team. Oversight includes reviewing and approving proposal submissions (EPAWS), reporting, research funding projections, post-award reconciliations, pre-award activities with regard to transfer of grants/equipment and monthly payroll reconciliations.
  • Meet weekly with Grants team to ensure compliance with federal, state and corporate regulations. Oversees research development within the College and manages the Director of Research Development.


Qualified candidates will have an advanced degree in a related discipline (MBA, MS in Finance, Accounting, etc.) and 7-10 years' budget experience in a higher education institution or a complex non-profit organization. Experience working at an RCM institution and knowledge of financial reporting in a decentralized business setting preferred. Candidates must be able to demonstrate strong management skills with at least 7- 10 years of supervisory experience across multiple subject areas. Strong knowledge of Banner, IBM Cognos Analytics or other Business Intelligence Software preferred. High level of analytical skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure is a must
