Northeastern’s Office of Annual Giving is seeking a motivated, upbeat, and enthusiastic Associate Director to oversee our growing digital marketing efforts. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Annual Giving and works in close partnership with the Senior Associate Director of Annual Giving Marketing. This role is part of a team that works toward meeting the university’s alumni participation goal by soliciting gifts from our alumni and other constituencies.

Email marketing is a critical piece of our overall annual giving outreach strategy. The Associate Director will oversee all aspects of executing this program, including building/laying out marketing pieces, pulling mailing lists and coordinating the tracking of email results and capture of other data. They will be key partner in marketing strategy conversations, always looking for opportunities to use technology in new ways to advance our mission.

In addition to email marketing, this position will drive the annual giving social media strategy. The Associate Director must stay up to date on social media trends and will think creatively about they can best leverage these platforms to increase engagement and promote our fundraising message. Finally, this role will provide logistical support for annual giving’s popular commerce campaigns, particularly in maintaining associated webpages and online order forms as well as managing the fulfillment process.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented digital marketer who will thrive in a collaborative environment, often juggling multiple projects at once. Annual giving is a data-driven operation and the Associate Director will be responsible, with the support of a data analyst, for tracking the results of their programs and using this data to inform and refine future strategies. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, creative, and stays up-to-date on digital marketing best practices and trends.


Bachelor’s degree and four to six years of annual giving or applicable marketing experience required. Experience with email marketing platforms, particularly Salesforce Marketing Cloud, is a big asset. An aptitude for numbers and analysis is important and familiarity/comfort working with Microsoft Excel is a must. Experience with HTML or content management systems is also beneficial, though not necessary to be considered.
