About the Opportunity:

The Director of Network Housing and Re-location will oversee the operations and strategic planning of Housing throughout the network and provide support services, with a specific focus on students traveling beyond Boston on co-op and enrolled within the global campus. The Director is responsible for the creation of a comprehensive set of services, resources and communications for learners living outside of Boston, including re-location support, housing management and operations, and transition and re-entry assistance.

Services and Resources

The Director will lead the department in providing support services and resources for Northeastern learners that are looking for housing while participating in experiential opportunities outside of Boston. This includes fostering relationships with property managers, academic departments and Northeastern alumni and career networks.

The department provides resources for all students residing beyond Boston and this role specifically supports students seeking housing re-location as they access Northeastern’s global experiences. The co-op experience is integral to Northeastern’s curriculum. The Director will collaborate with academic departments and external vendors to maintain a direct focus on the effective delivery of student services and resources to foster learner growth, satisfaction, and retention.

Programs

The Director of Network Housing and Re-location is responsible for creating a pathway and smooth transition for students seeking co-op experience both domestic and global. By building and maintaining a sense of community, and creating a network wherever they are learning, the Director of Beyond Boston Housing will be integral to retention efforts. Educational programs, workshops, and community-building programs both on the main Boston campus and with regional campuses will create a smooth transition between opportunities as learners move in and out of experiences. Working with alumni and the global campus communities, this position will create innovative ways to build a sense of belonging and access to Northeastern’s many resources for students on co-op or within a short-term, immersive program.

The Director of Network Housing and Re-location will report to the Vice Chancellor of Operations in the Division of Student Affairs. The Director will collaborate with the offices of Student Affairs, Housing, Alumni Relations, Cooperative Education, Experiential Education and Career Design, the Business Office, Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, Global Experience Office, and other University departments throughout the global campus to support all learners wherever they may be. The Director will align and create a vision for new initiatives, as well as provide leadership and direction to support, strengthen, and grow the beyond Boston learner communities, experiential opportunities, and personalized networks. Goals based on new initiatives will be created annually by the Director.

Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Higher Education or related field.
- 6-8 years work experience in student affairs, community affairs or related field.
- Experience in managing professional and student staff.
- Strong customer service focus, communication, writing skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Budget and operations management required.
- Contract negotiation experience preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories.
- Experience working in a diverse, fast-paced, student-centered service environment.
- Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Innovative problem-solving ability.
- Background in developing community/campus relationships and external partnerships. Must have ability to strengthen town-gown relationships while serving as an advocate for students within the community.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and work positively and productively with parents, faculty, staff and community members.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office programs.
- Willingness to travel.
