About the Opportunity:
|
The Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things (WIoT) at Northeastern University is an interdisciplinary research center, a think tank, and a technology incubator promoting advancement in the area of connected systems, as well as their societal applications and implications. WIoT conducts cutting-edge research, delivers new cross-disciplinary educational models, and develops new technologies in the area of connected systems at the intersection between the physical and the digital worlds and on their legal, economic, ethical, and policy implications. WIoT is funded through over $20M per year in federal and industry funding, and is home to leading national programs such as the NSF Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research, 56/6G R&D Centers, and leading programs in AI for wireless systems and future spectrum sharing and exploitation at Terahertz frequencies, medical IoT. It has unique experimental capabilities including Colosseum, the world’s largest RF emulator, and Teranova, the world’s only testbed for Terahertz wireless networks. WIoT is home to an FCC Innovation Zone and at the center of a vibrant industry consortium.
WIoT invites applications for multiple tenured/tenure track open positions at all levels. We seek exceptional candidates with research interests and accomplishments in all disciplines relevant to a future connected world, including but not limited to Internet of Things, smart and connected cities and communities, wireless systems including 5G and 6G, cybersecurity, environmental sciences, medical systems, space exploration, social media, legal, ethical, and policy implications, as well as business and entrepreneurship. The Institute is particularly interested in candidates with interdisciplinary backgrounds at the intersection of multiple of the aforementioned domain areas. Strong candidates in the aforementioned areas may be considered for faculty appointments in academic units/colleges and departments across two or more colleges and departments, and at the various campuses in the Northeastern network.

Responsibilities:
|
Candidates are expected to have demonstrated or show potential/vision for establishing an excellent nationally and internationally recognized research program and strong record in extramurally funded research. Candidates will also need to demonstrate high-quality in teaching and contribute to advancing the WIoT education programs. In addition, candidates should be prepared to contribute to the WIoT, department(s), college(s), and university service.
