About the Opportunity:

Founded in 1922, the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University offers a unique model of business education that purposely blends innovative classroom learning with real-world business application. At the undergraduate level, both the BS in Business Administration and the BS in International Business programs offer students the opportunity to develop into highly motivated business leaders. Under the supervision of the Manager of HR and Operations and working closely with the Associate Dean of Administration and Finance and the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty and Research, the HR Associate is responsible for the administration and processing of all full-time faculty and staff hires. The HR Associate will serve as the primary SEVIS contact overseeing visa applications. They will monitor visa and funding expirations and work with the departments to facilitate employment/visa extensions and terminations, as appropriate. This is a hands-on position that requires multilevel coordination with a variety of departments across the college and NU including, central HR, General Counsel, the Office of Global Services, and hiring managers. They will respond to staff/faculty inquiries, which requires a comprehensive knowledge of personnel policies and procedures. In addition, they will support the Manager of HR and Operations and Budget Director in the overall spring salary review, performance appraisal and merit process. This position will also have responsibility for managing the staff salary analysis and submitting a variety of personnel actions on faculty and staff, and responding to inquiries from HR. The HR Associate will manage the DMSB mentoring program and will work closely with the Manager of HR and Operations on other employee engagement initiatives to help foster a culture of inclusion.


Bachelor's degree required

2-3 years of professional human resources experience required

Demonstrated interest in expanding HR knowledge or related field of study

Sound judgement, excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to demonstrate initiative and motivation

Well-developed problem-solving skills, along with the ability to effectively observe and listen to anticipate or interpret employee and manager needs

Ability to translate HR policies, system processes, and best practices into everyday language that managers and staff can understand

Demonstrated analytical skills to read, interpret, and communicate data and/or survey results to inform practices, processes, and aid in decision-making

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong proofreading, attention to detail, and follow through skills are essential

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize projects and multiple, competing priorities

Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness, and quality of work

Must demonstrate a proven ability to effectively work with competing priorities and a diverse set of customers/clients

Must have a strong team-orientation and flexible approach to work

Strong ethical sensibility and ability to manage a high level of sensitive and confidential employee information, maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion at all times

Experience with workday preferred
