About the Opportunity:



The College of Engineering Undergraduate Academic Advising Office is seeking two Academic Advisors to join their experienced team in providing support, advice, and referral services for all student issues and concerns. The responsibilities include supporting and advising undergraduate students with all aspects of course planning and registration from orientation through to completion of degree requirements at the time of degree conferral. This position supports and advises first-year students who enter the College of Engineering directly or through various pathway programs, to include: teaching multiple sections of a one-credit first year seminar, monitoring and supporting academic progress, serving as a referral source to students experiencing academic and personal challenges, and assisting with various College programs. The Academic Advisor also serves as departmental liaison and advisor to upper class students, underrepresented populations and incoming transfer students, reviews records for completion of degree requirements, provides interpretation/explanation of College and University policies and procedures, and provides support for enrollment and retention initiatives.


Master’s degree in Higher Education, or related field required. Two to five years of full-time experience required; previous experience in higher education recommended. Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills required. Must be able to work well as a team member with a variety of constituencies, work independently and take initiative; attention to detail is imperative. The ideal candidate must possess a commitment to working with college populations and be able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Teaching experience strongly preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, and registration/advising support tools such as Banner, Salesforce, Navigate and Degree Audit programs preferred.
