About the Opportunity:

The Associate Research Scientist must have significant computational and applied statistical skills that contribute to modeling and forecasting the spread of COVID-19 in the US. They must be able to handle, process and analyze very large datasets, including surveillance information of COVID cases, cellular phone mobility data, and other epidemic indicators. Overall, the research will encompass a range of scholarly activities, such as the development of code (for data analysis and simulations) and writing of research articles.


The Associate Research Scientist will perform basic or applied research in an area of considerable scope and complexity. They will be expected to independently carry out research and data analysis, as well as write scholarly articles, contribute to grant proposals, attend lab meetings, present research, and provide academic and administrative supervision to students and postdoctoral researchers. Will be responsible for some aspects of project management, such as budget administration and grant reports.


Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; and experience that demonstrates the ability to plan and execute research, and ideally has previous supervisory experience.
