About the Opportunity:

Under the Director of Academic Advising in the College of Professional Studies (CPS), the CPS Associate Director, Academic Advising and Operations (Regional Campuses) provides innovative support to the CPS Director of Academic Advising, in collaboration with the Boston-based CPS academic team and regional campus leadership teams. The primary focus of this position is to develop and implement robust strategies to ensure the growth and success of the CPS programs amongst Northeastern’s global campus network in Seattle, Bay Area and Vancouver.

Responsibilities:

To ensure a top-tier learner experience, the Associate Director will manage all on-ground CPS program administrative activities at regional campuses, including program development and delivery support for CPS programs; prepare reports and analyses for leadership teams; serve as liaison between regional-based and Boston-based programs/operations; recruit, hire, train, and supervise the Silicon Valley regionally-based CPS Academic and Career Advisor; and advise students on academic, career, and curriculum/registration matters.

Qualifications:

 

Candidates for the Associate Director position must have a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a track record of strong academic performance. Four to six years of experience providing direct service to students in higher education, preferably in an academic or student affairs environment is required. Three years of experience serving as an academic advisor or similar position is required and may be concurrent. Experience with program development and assessment practices is strongly preferred. Some late hours and weekend work are required. Some travel is required.

• Previous management experience preferred
• Have experience working with diverse student populations: transfer, adult learners, online, and international students
• Be able to articulate their philosophy regarding academic advising and career services and provide evidence of being student-learning centered
• Have strong organizational skills, with a particularly focus on prioritizing tasks, time management, and follow-through
• Possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Be comfortable using multiple mediums to communicate with students, faculty, and staff members
• Be able to exercise sound judgment to problem solve independently within organizational guidelines and policies
• Be a creative team member, be able to take direction and work independently, possess strong change management skills, and be collaborative, supportive, and team oriented.
• Be flexible in work assignments and work hours (including being available some evenings and weekend);
• Have strong technological skills and experience with multiple software platforms, including degree audit systems, student information systems, and customer relationship management systems.
