Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the role of Spark Fund Director is to create and operationalize an investment program for early tech commercialization opportunities in order to advance research from concept to proof of concept. The Director will accomplish this by conceiving, planning, managing, reporting and improving related programs. This position will report to the Director, Entrepreneurship.

The ideal candidate will have a exceptional business sense and work experience related to early research-based market development opportunities, a deep understanding of research to market challenges (associated with the life cycle of spinouts and technology licensing), and a passion around the commercialization of research. S/he will bring an ability to balance financial and business acumen with an aggressive, creative, and dynamic approach to research commercialization.

S/he will support CRI’s goal to increase real-world impact in the form of high-potential spinouts and industry licenses. This role will be responsible for creating programs which enable the researcher to develop their high opportunity research to more closely address market needs. Specifically, but not limited to funding of early tech development, providing market direction, and assessment of commercial opportunity.
