About the Opportunity:

Northeastern University invites applications for an Associate Director, Academic Operations at Northeastern’s Roux Institute, located at our newest campus in Portland, Maine. The Associate Director will oversee all aspects related to graduate degree and non-degree programs offered by the Institute in Portland and online. As a key member of the Institute’s academic administrative team, the Associate Director will provide operational oversight of these programs with the goals of growth, process efficiency, and continuous quality improvement.


Broad responsibilities will include:

Educational program management
• Developing and measuring goals related to growth and delivery of the academic offerings
• Facilitating the implementation of new curricular opportunities
• Collaborating with the Institute’s Partnership team to establish new and manage existing partnerships for the expansion of enrollment and cooperative learning opportunities
• Serving as the point person for, and collaborating on, all educational operational and administrative tasks that engage with the Colleges and Central Operations (e.g. the Registrar, the Provost’s office, and the Chancellor’s office)
• Collaborating with the Roux Institute marketing operation to ensure relevant, accurate, and timely delivery of relevant programs
• Ensuring that all academic programs comply with accreditation requirements related to on-ground, online and hybrid education
• Fostering a culture of transparent decision-making, professional accountability, and shared success
• Serving as liaison between Roux and all University committees that handle matters pertaining to graduate and certificate programs offered at the Institute. This will involve (often remote) engagement in University committee meetings
• Advancing the approval process of new academic programs
• Overseeing the assessment of the effectiveness of academic programs
• Entering and auditing the class schedule, faculty contracts, and requested wages in Banner. Processes compensation forms for per-student assignments
• As directed by the relevant program directors, serving as the primary contact for adjunct faculty hiring, load, and assignment and for full-time faculty load, including administrative assignments, and summer course contracts
• Working with Deans and programs to ensure effective adjunct orientations
• Interfacing with students about questions regarding the class schedule and conflicts; and processes enrollment/registration forms, per Registrar’s procedures.

Faculty Affairs
• Collaborating with the Provost’s office, the College Deans, and HRM to ensure all details of faculty recruitment and oversight are consistent with the Faculty Handbook and other University Policies


• Bachelor’s degree required with six to eight years’ demonstrated success in building and operating educational processes
• Demonstrated track record in managing logistical aspects of graduate education programs (online, on-ground, and hybrid)

Preferred Qualifications:
Entrepreneurial, energetic, and collaborative leadership skills. Excellent communication skills across diverse audiences and settings. A strategic mindset. Ability to work in a fast-paced and innovative setting. He/she must have experience working independently and as a member of a team. Some travel may be required to regional campus(es), particularly Boston.
