About the Opportunity:

The Head of Marketing is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for the overall go-to-market strategy, messaging and outreach plan pertaining to the acquisition of talent in graduate and part-time professional programs. Specifically, this role is responsible for creating, leading and executing differentiated marketing strategies that will be effective in driving enrollment, enhancing awareness and brand reputation for the Roux Institute at Northeastern University. This executive leader will have direct oversight of the marketing and recruitment teams responsible for contributing to the Roux Institute’s overall enrollment goals. She/He will lead marketing and recruitment outreach professionals in prioritizing and targeting high-caliber student populations to both maximize existing recruitment opportunities as well as identify new opportunities for growth. She/He will also oversee day-to-day management of the enrollment marketing function, including internal and external resources to execute and optimize marketing outreach campaigns, develop target market-specific messaging and collateral, and create new and innovative approaches to the overall consumer experience for prospective students and applicants. This position will integrate both the marketing and recruitment domains so as to lead and execute an overall enrollment strategy, leveraging cross-industry experience and expertise.


The Head of Marketing will be data-driven in their approach to outreach optimization, ensuring the tracking of information and trends to measure effectiveness of various lead generation approaches in meeting enrollment targets. She/he will oversee the development of a KPI framework to measure marketing outreach and campaign effectiveness and contribute to an overall enrollment KPI framework to measure results against enrollment goals. This role will be deeply engaged with all aspects of the enrollment function beyond lead generation including admissions activities, proactive networking strategy, coaching and sales, marketing operations and digital strategy. She/He are expected to partner collaboratively with senior leaders in each of these units to contribute to the success of the institution’s enrollment goals.

The Head of Marketing works with a high level of independence, managing a highly innovative process within a progressive institutional environment. She/he challenges the status quo and develops/offers new techniques to improve lead generation and enrollment outcomes. She/He embraces new ideas; innovates and anticipates future needs; shares knowledge and teaches others to do the same. It is an expectation that the candidate is a strong communicator and collaborative partner, able to work up, down and across the organization, and represent the Institute in a variety of diverse forums.


• Bachelor’s degree; Masters preferred. 10-15 years experience in marketing/sales.

• Demonstrated success in leadership roles that require oversight of strategy development and successful execution, including evaluation tracking and reporting on effectiveness.

• Proven track record of success and expertise in developing marketing plans and programs that leverage a range of media and variety of channels including advertising, direct response and online.

• Proven sales leadership track record, including oversight of sales team.

• Proven ability to work with vendors, organizations, partners and agencies to produce results. This may include creative agencies, individual designers, technical agencies, lead generation organizations, professional associations, coaching partners and others.

• Excellent communications skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment are a must.

• Strong leadership skills that require a balance of managing day to day activities, as well as oversight of senior leaders on team.

• Networked approach to developing leadership style is key; must be comfortable in an environment of deep collaboration, engagement and creativity from all levels of the organization.

• Ability to work efficiently, creatively and meet deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment.

• Demonstrate business-like manner and appearance; exercise diplomacy and tact.

• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, with an emphasis on University senior leaders and where necessary, ability to positively represent the Institute.
