The Program Coordinator, Digital and Social Engagement, reports to the Senior Associate Director, Digital and Social Engagement, and plays an integral role in executing on digital media communications for the promotion of the Office of Alumni Relations’ (OAR) programs and initiatives, as well as supporting university campaigns. This position will assist in executing on OAR’s digital strategy for outreach to over 260,000+ alumni around the globe, including email and social media. The role will require identifying and developing engaging social content, supporting paid social initiatives, including coordination with internal teams and supporting email and content development.

The Program Coordinator, Digital and Social Engagement will focus on:
1. Executing OAR’s social strategy, including identifying stories and engaging content, and developing, crafting, and editing content for use across social and digital platforms in coordination with the team’s social strategist
2. Developing a social media editorial calendar that is in line with OAR messaging, and aligned with upcoming events, programs and overall office goals
3. Supporting the team’s social strategist to create reports and aggregate data into actionable insights to share with OAR and Advancement teams
4. Monitoring conversations across social media channels and flagging issues in real time through engagement, escalation, or documentation, in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team
5. Supporting the execution of the email strategy, including developing, segmenting and scheduling emails to alumni and other constituents in collaboration with all areas of the University
6. Managing internal and some external relationships with teams to coordinate and execute on social and email strategy
7. Contributing new ideas for enhancing OAR’s digital engagement strategy, including leveraging new ideas to enhance social engagement, enhancing email templates, recommending website updates, and leveraging digital media, among others.

The Program Coordinator must be able to consistently represent the University, Advancement and the OAR team in a professional, enthusiastic manner with top-notch customer service and team focus. Evening and weekend work required as needs dictate. Moderate ground and air travel, and a flexible schedule are required. While the primary role of this position is to focus on marketing and communications, it will require some work with assisting at several OAR events throughout the year, along with other duties, as assigned. As a member of the Advancement Division, it is essential for the Program Coordinator, Digital and Social Engagement to understand and support the role philanthropy plays in engaging the Northeastern community.


Bachelor's degree required. Two to three (2-3) years of experience in digital media production. Demonstrated proficiency in all social media platforms (including Facebook organic and paid, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and others), Microsoft Office, Email Marketing Platforms (Salesforce Marketing Cloud or others) and CMS tools such as WordPress. Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal communications skills required. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented with a strong customer service focus. Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with alumni, volunteers, students, staff, faculty, vendors and external entities; Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment on multiple projects at a time while still hitting deadlines; - Experience working in higher education is a plus. Basic proficiency in Adobe design suite a plus.
