About the Opportunity:

The Student Financial Services Assistant is responsible for providing the highest level of customer service to students and applicants and their families seeking information and/or assistance via phone or in person from Student Financial Services. Ensures student understanding of policies and procedures related to financial aid and student accounts.

Responsibilities:

Student Financial Services Assistants are also responsible for counseling all current and prospective students and families regarding financing options and financial policies, processing payments, providing administrative and counseling support by assisting and resolving inquiries, and intake of all financial aid materials and other disseminated materials.

Qualifications:

Associates degree or two years of college preferred. Two years of related office/customer service experience. (An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered)

Candidates must also possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
  • Capacity to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Aptitude with relating to diverse populations and ability to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
  • Proficiency with multi-tasking, prioritization of duties, and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
  • Analyze problems, identify solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departmental staff, faculty, students and the public.
