About the Opportunity:

The School of Nursing in the Bouvé College of Health Sciences at Northeastern University is committed to co-creating an environment conducive to incubating innovative ideas and strategies aimed at creating a more dignified patient-family-centered healthcare system. The wide range of programs offered by the School of Nursing from baccalaureate through DNP and PhD degrees highlights the responsiveness of the School to the healthcare needs of individuals and communities in the state, nation, and globally. The ultimate goal is to advance the School of Nursing’s position to one of the nation’s top research schools of nursing.

Responsibilities:

The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the Administrative Operations Manager for the School of Nursing (SON). S/he will provide diversified administrative support and activities and is responsible for maintaining administrative systems to ensure efficient operation of the Dean’s Office. The Administrative Assistant will serve as a member of a team-oriented staff providing optimal service to our faculty, staff, and students; school visitors and prospective students; members of the college and other university departments; and external constituents. S/he will manage the SON Dean’s vigorous schedule and travel, keeping the Dean informed of responsibilities for upcoming meetings and events and assist in necessary planning and preparation of same. The Administrative Assistant will provide support for SON faculty and steering committee meetings and work closely with the Dean and Administrative Operations Manager on special projects. The Administrative Assistant will communicate appropriately on behalf of the School of Nursing and use judgment and diplomacy while interfacing with others. This person will work with highly confidential information and must exercise discretion concerning dissemination. S/he must prioritize competing tasks while working in a hectic environment. The primary objective of this position is to assist the school of nursing fulfill its mission and achieve its goals.

 

Qualifications:

Associate's degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of 1-3 years of progressively responsible administrative/customer service work experience required. Excellent computer skills with particular proficiency in Microsoft Office. Strong communication, analytical and organizational skills. Excellent customer service and problem solving skills are essential. Must have excellent planning and time management skills and be able to prioritize and execute tasks in a busy office environment. Must be resourceful, able to work independently, and have evidence of successfully working in a team environment. Proven ability to manage confidential information is required.
