About the Opportunity:

The D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University (Boston, Massachusetts) is seeking applications and nominations for the Daniel J. McCarthy Professorship in the Entrepreneurship & Innovation (E&I) Group.


The major responsibility of the chair holder is to develop initiatives that enhance the School’s scholarly reputation in the field(s) of innovation, entrepreneurship or global management through high impact research and related activities in areas such as industry dynamics and firm strategies in technology-driven contexts, innovation management and strategy, entrepreneurship, and global business. An outstanding scholarly reputation and publication record are expected, demonstrated by a substantial body of publications in the most prestigious journals.  Success in working with business executives and/or publishing in the top practitioner-oriented outlets is highly desirable.  The Daniel J. McCarty Professorship chair holder is expected to join a thriving group of scholars and help to continue increasing the visibility and prestige of the D’Amore-McKim School of Business Entrepreneurship & Innovation faculty. She/he is also expected to become a leading voice within the school and the university, as well as in the relevant academic communities.  Major responsibilities of the chair holder include promoting and enhancing the research activities of the E&I Group and working within the University’s entrepreneurial ecosystem to develop initiatives and programs that enhance the School and University reputation, particularly among peers in prestigious research institutions.



Qualifications include:

  1. Doctorate in management or other business-related fields such as engineering, sociology, and economics.
  2. Outstanding research record and active research program related to entrepreneurship, innovation, and global business
  3. Full Professor whose work is focused on one or more of the areas described above
  4. Outstanding National and International reputation for research accomplishments in the areas described above
  5. Strong record of managerial impact, either from practitioner-oriented publications or direct work with companies
  6. Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching at various levels, including executive education
  7. Established record of success working with junior faculty
  8. Verifiable background in institution building and program development
  9. Successful record in writing grant proposals and raising external funds
  10. Demonstrated leadership abilities
  11. Evidence of collegiality and collaboration in working with colleagues, administrators, students, the business community, and government agencies.
